Norwegian saxophonist Jan Garbarek has long been a giant on the European jazz scene. Later he discovered and was attracted to the melodies of Scandinavian folklore. The result is a unique music which transcends eras and styles. Garbarek is also an autodidactic with instruments, which only adds to the originality of his music.
